The Sound of Birds
The title for the book emerged when I was sitting on the balcony in late Winter/early Spring and noticed the I was hearing the sound of the birds singing. In the dark of Winter I missed that sound, a simple thing and yet so incredibly important. It reminded me that sometimes it's the things we take for granted, like the sound of birds in the morning that often those things that help us heal and grow.

Introduction

This blog is an introduction to a project through Kickstarter.com. I'll be offering small samples of the book and reflections on how the work is progressing.
I've been thinking about this project for some time. In my almost fifty years I've had many experiences: growing up gay, living with HIV, working in restaurants and the non-profit sector and more.
Viewing the world through an emotional lens, I express the things I see underlying current events, how we are with each other and asking the question "why?"
And I like humour. To paraphrase Camille Paglia "life is like TV - something happy followed by something sad followed by something funny or tragic."
This book will be a mixture of all that.
